MEET

Karese Johnson holds degrees in Business Administration and boasts a robust history of active participation in diverse community organizations. As a distinguished candidate for the Vanderburgh County Council, she brings a wealth of skills, experience, and knowledge that will undoubtedly elevate the council's effectiveness.

EDUCATION

A proud Evansville native, Karese attended Caze Elementary, McGary Middle School, and Harrison High School before earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana. She furthered her education by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

FAMILY

As a devoted mother of three, Karese skillfully manages their activities, her career, and family life. Her children attend Ball State University, EVSC New Tech Institute, and Evansville Christian School. Her husband, Christopher, serves as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army, providing her with firsthand experience in navigating the challenges of single-parenting during his frequent deployments. As a woman of faith, Karese worships with her family at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where they are long standing members.

 

 

PROFESSIONAL

Karese’s professional journey includes roles in the non-profit sector such as Grant Coordinator/Impact Evaluator, then Grant Accounting and Compliance Coordinator at the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana, Community Impact Officer with United Way of Southwestern Indiana, Office Manager at the Children’s Museum of Evansville, and Enrollment and Match Specialist with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Indiana. Her corporate experience includes various roles in banking at Evansville Commerce Bank, First Federal Savings Bank, and Evansville Federal Credit Union.

COMMUNITY

She has demonstrated her commitment to the community by serving with organizations such as JD Sheth Foundation board (board member), Feed Evansville (board member), Dare to Dream College Mentoring Program, The Commission on Food Security, Citizens Advisory Committee (Evansville Department of Metropolitan Development), General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Indiana (Southern District Youth Director), John M. Caldwell Community Development Corporation (board member), Life Choices Maternity and Youth Home (board member), Junior League of Evansville (sustaining member), Multicultural Professionals Network (treasurer and steering committee), and Vanderburgh County Court Appointed Special Advocates. In addition, she has served as a campaign manager for a city council candidate and a campaign aide for the sitting mayor.

 

 

LEADERSHIP

Karese is a proven project manager, critical thinking analyst, grant writer and manager, and relationship manager. Her track record showcases an ability to collaborate within a group, define goals, assess opportunities and challenges, and chart an effective course of action, ultimately achieving collective success. As a driven leader, she possesses excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

In seeking the office of Vanderburgh County Council, Karese aims to leverage her expertise and dedication to community service to contribute significantly to the council's initiatives, fostering positive change, and ensuring the well-being of all constituents. Her commitment to inclusive policies and dedication to the community make her an outstanding candidate for the Vanderburgh County Council.

WHY?

I am running for office because I want to advocate for my community. I've been here, I've served and continue to serve the people of Vanderburgh County at the ground level. Now is the time that my voice is at the table where decisions are made. Now is the time that I can make changes in an impactful way. I desire to connect the community to the county agenda to keep all stakeholders informed.​
